In front of national news, Pastor Robert Jeffress accused the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of being a cult and stated that it was not a Christian religion (See reference below). Maybe the name of the Church does not make our belief clear enough: We are the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. We believe and Proclaim to be followers of Jesus Christ. In comparision, Mr. Jeffress' Church is called First Baptist Church of Dallas. Pastor, are you following Jesus Christ or John the Baptist? It is clear from our name whom we follow, but it is not so clear from your name.
Perhaps the Pastor is not familiar with some of our articles of Faith: "We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost...We believe that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel." Our Message is to worship the Father and the Son, follow the Holy Ghost, and that we can be saved by Jesus Christ through the ordinance of Baptism. The Lord taught the same message in John 3:5 , "except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he can in no wise enter into the Kingdom of God." When I access Mormon.org, I immediately see pictures of Jesus Christ, and testimonies of Jesus Christ all over the page. Clearly we speak of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, and we have a hope in Christ.
Paul taught in the New Testament that the Church of Jesus Christ was to be built on "the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone" (Ephesians 2:20). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has, is, and will always be lead by Apostles and Prophets with Jesus Christ as the Chief corner stone. Our organization follows the pattern set forth be the Savior when he established his church in the New Testament. Pastor Jeffress' Church Organization does not follow the pattern set forth by the Savior in the Bible- Where are your apostles? Where are your Prophets? their absence makes your church un-Biblical.
